2021.1 Selection Process


About the Course: 

The Law degree offers a legal course that innovates the teaching model while incorporating diversified methods to enable professionals to solve complex problems and build new legal institutes, in favor of the diversity of demands present in society. The challenges are, thus, the renewal of legal thinking and the formation of the new jurist, who is cosmopolitan, able to interpret their own reality, and capable of contributing to economic development, while being endowed with a deep sense of social responsibility.

Foreign applicants

The course has a specific selection process for foreign applicants. To participate, the applicant must have a foreign nationality or be a Brazilian citizen with dual nationality and have completed the last four years of compulsory education in institutions located outside Brazil. The selection is composed of the analysis of documents, such as academic transcript, English proficiency certificates, letters of recommendation, and motivation letter, with the aim of assessing the academic performance and socio-cultural profile of the applicant, who may also be summoned in person or online to provide clarification on the information contained in the documentation submitted.  The best-evaluated applicants in academic performance and sociocultural profile will be selected for Phase Two (Oral Examination), which will be held in Portuguese, in person, in the city of Sao Paulo. National High School Exam (Enem)

In addition to the Entrance Examination Selection Process, FGV Direito SP allows applicants also compete for vacancies using the *ENEM score for classification in the first phase of the Entrance Examination.

Non-Refundable Scholarships

1 – FGV Presidency Scholarships: In order to enrich the diversity of its student base, improving its quality and dynamism, in 2013 the São Paulo Law School launched a non-refundable scholarship program, which takes into consideration students’ personal and academic lives, as well as their socioeconomic conditions. Up to 10 scholarships will be granted, paying for between 100% and 50% of monthly school fees.

2 – Dr. Luiz Simões Lopes Merit Scholarships: These non-refundable scholarships are for students who stand out in their studies: (a) 100% for the top-ranking student in the university entrance exam, following enrollment, 70% for the second-placed student in the university entrance exam, following enrolment, and 30% for the third-placed student in the university entrance exam, following enrolment, in the first year of the course; (b) for the second, third and fourth years of courses, 100% scholarship for the student with the highest average general score in the preceding academic year, 70% for the second-ranking student, and 30% for the third-ranking student; (c) for the fifth year of courses, 100% scholarship for the best-rated entry in the monograph contest among fourth-year students, 70% for the second-best entry, and 30% for the third-best entry.

3 – Scholarship Endowment Fund Association: This is a fund created by former students of the São Paulo Law School, in order to let students in financial hardship obtain resources while dedicating themselves exclusively to their studies at the São Paulo Law School (during the first three years of their course). The scholarships are worth up to R$850 per month. To be awarded, they need to be approved by the Endowment Fund Association.


Refundable Scholarships

The funding of scholarships, to be repaid with interest limited to the General Market Price Index (IGP-M), is enabled by donations from companies and individuals, as well as repayment by former scholarship holders. Currently, around 30% of undergraduate law students benefit from the program.

Types: study (funding of 20% to 100% of monthly school fees, for six months); study materials; accommodation and transport; and meals.
