The course is aligned with market best practices and the latest trends in communication research. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for an increasingly versatile and competitive market, providing solid knowledge in areas such as data science, the social sciences and linguistics.
The curriculum is structured in four broad thematic areas: Communication, Fundamentals, Data Science, and Digital Culture. In the Innovation Cube and DAPP Lab, theory, concepts and reflections are tried out in applied projects, always monitored and guided by the school’s professors and researchers.
Partnerships and internships
Through its exclusive work placement scheme, FGV ECMI connects its students to public, private and third sector organizations, supporting their practical experience while they are doing their undergraduate degree.
Support for entrepreneurship – In line with its vocation to help promote innovation in the Brazilian digital communication market, FGV ECMI runs a work placement scheme that also helps students develop and implement innovative projects in the field of communication.
Career guidance – FGV’s Internship and Career Development Center helps students and alumni enter the job market through exclusive partnerships and programs, as well as supporting students through a supervised internship as part of the curriculum.
FGV ECMI was the first school in Brazil to incorporate data science into its undergraduate communication course, based on an integrative approach that also involves areas such as the social sciences and linguistics. This interdisciplinary project has consistent theoretical foundations and it offers opportunities for experimentation in state-of-the-art laboratories, a variety of extension activities and practical workshops starting from the first semester.
Agreements with companies and organizations in the public, private and third sectors allow students to come into contact with the job market while they are doing their undergraduate degree in digital communication. In addition, through an exclusive program, FGV ECMI helps students obtain work placements and develop innovative projects for the digital communication market in Brazil and abroad.
The school’s faculty is made up of professors who have master’s or doctorates in their respective areas, obtained from respected universities in Brazil and across the world. Our professors stand out for their professional experience in their field, academic activity and papers published in leading specialized journals.

Laboratories for experimentation, featuring cutting-edge technologies
Using the communication market’s best practices, methodologies and technologies, FGV ECMI’s laboratories are the heart of the school. Students can experiment with devices, software, algorithms and applied research frameworks to monitor and analyze social media. They also strategically use virtual and augmented reality, storytelling and data for content analysis and production on different digital platforms. As well as hosting the development of practical projects, these laboratories offer minicourses to develop specific skills, in line with each student’s profile and objectives.
Active learning methodologies
The curriculum is focused on constant interaction between theory and practice, using methodologies that involve critical analysis of empirical evidence. FGV ECMI makes extensive use of case studies to stimulate analysis of real situations and bridge building between academic knowledge and the critical evaluation of practices, debates and business models in the field of communication.
